Accident leads to invention of device to handle fuel line leaks
It was an accident — lawn mower versus oil tank line — that led Mark Bishoff to co-invent a new safety system to prevent costly oil spills.
His friend’s son nicked their oil tank line while mowing — so slightly the boy didn’t even notice, Bishoff said. By the time the parents returned home from work, the tank was empty and the property was a mess.
The spill forced his friends out of their home for months and, even with insurance to cover the $600,000 cleanup, it took more money to restore the property to its original state.
